Functional Movement Systems (FMS) is a grading system that picks up where standard tests leaves off when the body has lost symmetry because of muscles imbalances as the result of age, injury, sickness or life happenings.

The FMS is not intended to diagnose orthopedic problems but to demonstrate asymmetries in healthy individuals. After my seat belt injury FMS was administered moving me forward, ” Kettlebell Lady Leanne Wylet. I administer the FMS  correcting asymmetry muscle imbalances with “correctives,

The test has seven fundamental movement patterns that require a balance of mobility & stability. Many individuals who perform at very high levels during activities are unable to perform these movements . If these compensations continue poor movement will be reinforced leading to poor biomechanics & increases likelihood of  injury.

Seven FMS Screening Tests:

  • Deep Squat
  • Hurdle Step
  • In-Line Lunge
  • Active Strait Leg Raise
  • Trunk Stability Push-Up
  • Shoulder Stability
  • Motor Stability (Bird      Dog)

Corrective  Screening tests measures:

  • Movement Control (climb)
  • Posture Control (carry)
  • Explosive Control (run)
  • Impact Control (jump).

Screenings come with a printout & corrective exercises to improve movement quality.
